Follow-up with Referring Doctors

Patients who are referred to Dr. Steinert by other doctors are returned to their doctor as
soon as treatment has progressed to the point where care can be fully transferred or jointly
co-managed. In addition, Dr. Steinert will send your doctor a consultation letter detailing his examination findings and recommended treatment plan.

Why have Regular Eye Exams?

Most cataracts form later in life as a part of the normal aging process. However, cataracts
can develop earlier without any other eye problems. Cataracts can develop as a result of
injury, eye disease, systemic problems (such as diabetes), or side effects from certain medications. Cataracts are not caused or worsened by reading, watching too much
television, sewing, or any other normal visual activity. Limiting visual activity will not
slow the progression of a cataract.
