Monofocal Lens


Monofocal IOLs are designed to provide good vision at one distance only, usually far,
and are therefore referred to as “single-power lenses.” This lens generally does not provide good near vision without glasses. A patient could choose to correct both
eyes for distance or under-correct one eye so that they benefit from monovision.

This lens generally does not provide good near vision without glasses. Most
people will need glasses after surgery for close-up activities like reading or crafts.
