Myopia occurs when the eye is either too long or the cornea is too steeply curved. When looking at a distant object, light focuses at a point in front of the retina rather than on the retina, resulting in blurred vision. The image that reaches the retina (the image you see) is blurred for objects at a distance, and becomes clearer as the object comes closer.
